Welcome! Melungeons |
Melungeons are of unkown origin, but apparently may very well have been in the Southeast before the first English settlers. Linda Griggs describes them as: "olive complected, dark eyed, dark skinned people living in Appalachia" in Wayfaring Stranger. Modern genetic studies suggest kinship with the "Free Moors."
We will add to this page as we obtain these records and manuscripts.
